End-of-Life Doula & Psychopomp
The word doula comes from an ancient Greek word and means person of service. End-of-life doulas, or death doulas, provide non-medical, holistic care and support to a dying person and their family before, during, and after death.
The word psychopomp originates from the Greek words psykhē meaning soul, mind, spirit, and the word pompos meaning guide, conductor, escort, messenger. Psychopomps are guides or conductors of the living through life transitions and of souls to the land of the dead.
